Christian NGO in Punjab | One Vision Society Pubjab Pakistan

Welcome to One Vision Society, where our commitment to serving communities across Punjab, Pakistan, is at the core of everything we do. Based in Lahore, the vibrant heart of Punjab, we’re dedicated to reaching out to non-developed areas, providing clean drinking water, and sharing the transformative message of Jesus Christ. As the largest province in Pakistan by population, Punjab is not just a geographical entity but a tapestry of history, culture, and diversity. Join us as we delve into the rich history of Punjab, explore its cities, and uncover the stories of hope and service that define our mission.

History of Punjab: Punjab, which translates to “Land of Five Rivers,” has been inhabited since ancient times. The region’s fertile plains and abundant water sources attracted early civilizations, including the Indus Valley Civilization, which flourished along the banks of the Indus River. Over the centuries, Punjab has been home to various empires and dynasties, including the Maurya, Gupta, and Mughal empires. With the arrival of Islam in the 7th century and subsequent invasions from Central Asia, Punjab became a cultural melting pot, blending diverse traditions and languages.

During the British colonial period, Punjab emerged as a significant center of resistance against colonial rule, with Lahore serving as a key hub of the independence movement. The partition of British India in 1947 resulted in the division of Punjab between India and Pakistan, leading to mass migrations and violence. Despite the trauma of partition, Punjab emerged as a vital component of the newly formed Pakistan, contributing to its cultural, economic, and agricultural development.

Cities of Punjab: Punjab is home to a multitude of cities, each with its own unique character and significance. Lahore, the provincial capital and cultural center of Punjab, is renowned for its historic landmarks, vibrant bazaars, and rich cultural heritage. From the majestic Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque to the bustling streets of Anarkali Bazaar, Lahore is a city that pulsates with life and energy.

Other notable cities in Punjab include Faisalabad, the industrial hub known for its textile industry; Rawalpindi, the garrison city adjacent to the federal capital Islamabad; Multan, the city of saints and ancient history; Gujranwala, famous for its agricultural produce and manufacturing sector; and Sialkot, renowned for its sports goods industry and entrepreneurial spirit. These cities, along with countless others, form the backbone of Punjab’s urban landscape, each contributing to the province’s cultural tapestry and economic vitality.

Our Mission in Punjab: At One Vision Society, we’re proud to be part of Punjab’s rich tapestry, serving communities across the province with compassion and dedication. Through our water filter distribution initiative, we’ve already reached thousands of families in non-developed areas, providing them with clean drinking water and the hope of a better future. Our church branches, Sunday Schools, brick kiln work, and other initiatives are testaments to our commitment to holistic community development, addressing both physical and spiritual needs.

As we continue our journey in Punjab, we invite you to join us in our mission of service and hope. Whether through volunteering, donations, or spreading the message of compassion and goodwill, your support can make a real difference in the lives of Punjab’s residents. Together, we can build a brighter, more resilient Punjab for generations to come.
